In this lens I have put together a few ideas to help you get started doing just that. Keep in mind that not all of these techniques are right for everyone. Simply look them over, find the one that best fits your personality and get to work by taking massive action.
Idea 1 - Warm Market
Working your warm market is the first thing most companies have you do. They tell you to start calling your friends, your family and anyone else in your immediate circle to tell them about your product or service.
Ideas 2 - Cold Call
Cold calling is when you call and present your offer to a list of phone numbers of people you do not know. These numbers are usually bought and given by an upline member.

Idea 3 - Trade shows & Fairs
Trade shows and fairs are excellent ways for you to get your product or service in front of poeple by setting up a booth. My wife has done this with great success in her business. She has collected a ton of names and, even better, received many referrals.
Idea 4 - Classifieds
Taking out a classified is a great way to find targeted leads. Simply put up an ad with some good sales copy and you could have poeple calling you. They come in many shapes and sizes. Some are free, some cost money. Check online and don't forget about your local newspaper or shopper.
Idea 5 - Forums
Forums are places where like-minded poeple like to hang out online to discuss whatever topic it is that they are most interested in or to find solutions to problems. By participating in a discussion - related to your product - or service you could establish yourself as someone who knows what they are talking about and become someone poeple want to follow and/or work with.
Idea 6 - Social Networks
Social Networks - which happen to be one of my favorite ways to build a downline - are more than a place to go to shoot the breeze with old classmates and friends, they are also places filled with potential business partners. Setting up a profile and searching for people using keywords associated with your product or service is a quick way to get the ball rolling.
