How To Build A Golf Net

You will need:

   Nylon netting, grommet with small weights

  2 - 10' aluminum Poles (old volleyball or badminton poles work well)

 6 small eye screws

                                     Zip Ties

                                     100' Nylon or polypropylene Rope

                                     4 Tent Stakes

                                     Drill

Golf nets can be made in any size or shape, depending on its purpose.  Is the net for a driving range or for the kids.  For the purpose of this article, we are constructing a 10-by-10 foot golf net suitable for backyard practice.  This is a perfect size for the kids, yourself or golfing buddies to spend the warm, sunny afternnons practicing that perfect golf swing.

1. Prepare the nyloin netting. You will need to seem all edeges, placing grommet holes in the corners and weights at the bottom to prevent the net from rising when the ball hits the net.

2. Drill holes in the top of the poles at the 12, 3 and 6 o'clock postitions.  Screw some eye screws into these six holes.

3. Use any old zip tie to connect the top net grommet hole to the inside eye screw of each pole.

4. Zip tie the rest of the net to the poles along the seamsllow for movement created by the golf ball or wind.

5. Cut four lines of standard quality rope. They should be about 20 feet long each. At the end of each line, tie a knot in the eye screws at the twelve and six o'clock positions.

6. Drive the poles deep into the ground. Allow enough net slack so the ball can drop softly to the ground after making contact with your golf net.

7. Stake yourtake your lines snugly for extra support. Angle the lines more toward perpendicular to the net so as not to reduce slack.

Take A Swing! Set it up in the area you want to play with it and take a few swings. If there is not enough slack or too much, go back and adjust now.
