How to Build a Pizza Oven

If you want to build yur own outdoor wood fired pizza oven then you are going to need a set of plans. I recently built my own pizza oven so we could have a few parties with friends and generally just make more use of our garden and let me tell you it can be a challenging task especially if you dont know what your doing......

My Story

I wanted to build a pizza oven that is able to make quite a few pizzas and quickly too...

Have you ever been invited to a BBQ and spent most of your time helping the cook?... or WAITING FOR YOUR FOOD TO GET COOKED?

I sure have... and although it can be fun, it would really be nice to be eating a nice hot BBQ'd burger while im there!

It seems to take a long time to get a batch of burgers cooked (to human standards) - if you like em raw then i guess it'l be quite quick.... the rest of the time all your guest are waiting - maybe eat half a sausage.

If your like me then you love a challenge, but I wanted a few specific things from my outdoor pizza oven:

1- It has to look nice

Now i know there are tons of plans on the internet that show you how to make a beehive for your garden - i know becuase i brought a whole bunch of them. I did not like them.

2- It has to add value to my property

I wanted something that not only looked good but also lasted for years. The design i finally went with not only added vaue to my home but also added value to my social life. Big Time!

3- It has to work and churn out pizzas.

I have two daughters and a son who love pizza, not to mention all of my friends down under. I wanted a pizza oven that could make at least 2-3 pizzas at a time and all within 3-4 minutes, while i get the toppings ready for the next batch of pizzas...

by the way thats the great thing about pizzas - you can customize them to make everyone happy - and my daughters have even drawn up their own little menu's which they hand out to guests - so we know what everyone likes and can make say 10 meat mountains, 20 veggie volcano's or 5 - ham heavens (the kids thought those up)

while they'r cooking the slices go around and everyone gets a slice of the action - haha

That's a pic of my actual pizza oven by the way...

Long Story short

anyway... i could find the plans i wanted anywhere on the interent so a friend and i decided to just mix all of the plans together and try and build something that could do everything we wanted.

We had learn how to build a pizza oven - just not how to actually build it if that makes sense. The drawings are all good and well but there are dozens of different things you have to consider when you start building your pizza oven.

None of the plans seemed to fit the bill, or offer any practicle advice.

So we started building our pizza oven... and my friend actually took pictures of every step - so one day when having a few beers we might be able to look back on the project and have a few laughs.

Anyway - we took hundreds of pics and had a few parties over the summer - some little get togethers and a few full on parties for the kids birthdays.

The pizza oven was a big hit - people were shocked we had actually built it ourselves. A few people even asked where they might be able to buy thier own pizza oven.

We told them how easy the project was - and they had seen the value of owning their own that they asked us to build one for them. So we did.

A few pizza ovens down the road and we were starting to be recognised as the pizza oven guys. Although the intial few projects were fun, and i have no problem helping friends out when building their own pizza ovens. Random people passing by had caught a glimpse of a corner of the pizza oven when passing by in their cars and would sometimes knock the door and asked, what it was and where they might get one.

Eventually we decided we had built enough pizza ovens and so we put the all of the pictures together (there are about 200 for every single step) and a set of instructions, hints, tips, material lists, cheap places to get the materials - stuff like that and just gave that to people who were interested.

These plans are really valuabe to people seeking this information - one internet guy even caught wind of the plans and asked if we would sell them on his website. And we did for $50 - and continue to do so.

We now have our own website and for people who buy direct from us we are offering 50% of the plans - so they are only $25
you can visit that link above if you want to grab a copy of these plans to build your own pizza oven (did you miss it?) haha

Anyway - iv spent far too long telling you my story... i hope you enjoy the plans and your new pizza oven.

I have added a coment box below so why not come back and leave a few comments about your pizza oven experiance

(or not - i understand if you're too busy hosting the party of the year)

Thanks for reading.
