Buying Used Legos In Bulk

Looking for legos for your kids but then notice the high price tags at the toy store? I was astonished to see the prices I found at Wal-mart when buying just one small box of legos.

Yes when you buy them new they come all neat in a box and with super cool instructions, but realistically that box lasts for about an hour and most the time if you want the directions for particular build of lego you can find it online. Not to mention what kid is satisfied with a small amount of legos.

That is why I have found buying used legos in bulk is the way to go, not only do I get more legos for the kids they have a more variety of legos to play with. I have found with eBay and other online auction sites that buying used legos online to be easy and a cheaper alternative to buying new legos.

How To Buy Used Legos In Bulk

1Most bulk lego sets are not of one particular set. They are mixed and you will find parts from various legos set to make a creation of your own. If your looking for just one type of lego sets such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, or Spider-man Legos you will probably need to buy them in smaller portions when buying used.
2Look for Bulk Lego offers that guarantee legos are actually legos and not other brands. Also check the legos you are buying are the size you want.
3Looking at photos the Lego seller has on their post helps but do not forget to look at the small print. It is common for lego sellers to take a photo of a bunch of their legos they are selling and post it to all their lego auctions. This can be a little deceiving if you do not understand that you will not be getting all the lot, you are just paying for a portion of legos not the entire lot of legos they are showing in the photo.
4When buying legos from auction websites such as eBay look for good ratings and if they have any negative remarks look at the comments so you can know what you are getting into.
5Number of legos can seem like they will be more legos then their really is. Five Hundred to a thousand legos can seem like a lot of legos till you get home. Keep in mind that a gallon Ziploc bag a little more then half full can carry a 1000 legos.
6When you buy legos in regular packages at the store they are typically around 300 to 750 at a time. Ordering online you can order usually in lots of 500 to 1000 but those same dealers can sale you multiple lots of legos, so you can get as much as you want.

The sure sounds like the way to go. Don't let the kids watch too much TV or they will fixate on some fancy lego character. They'll be perfectly happy playing with the big batch bought from Amazon.

I've noted on one of my Lego lenses that Uk ebay sellers seem to show the weight of Lego being sold while US sellers do not. While different Lego parts do have rarity value, I like that there is a rough guide in price of about 10 GBP per kilo. Number of elements is another rough guide to value of a Lego bulk buy.
