Clean up your showerhead fast easy and cheap!

Cleaning a gunked up shower head is really easy...and no tools are needed!

If your shower head is shooting all over - or nothing is coming out some of the holes because of the hard water build up in the shower head...then you fix the problem fast and most likely free from items you likely have around the house!

No harsh chemicals are needed!!! just things you have around the house already!!!!

Step 1 collect what you need

1-4 cups of white vinegar - depending on size of shower head bigger shower head needs more vinegar

Plastic baggy - big enough to slip it completely over your shower head if you have a larger shower head such as a rain style shower head you may want to use a small trash bag. any plastic bag will do as long as it does not leak.

a large twist tie - usually you get these on your electronics holding the cords wound, if you do not have one of those you can take several small ones from bread or trash bags and twist the ends together to make a big one it needs to be at least 5-6 inches long - long enough to wrap around the pipe that the shower head is hooked to.

Step 2

test the baggie to make sure it is holding liquid by filling with water. hold it up make sure it does not leak, if it does try another baggie.

once you have one that is water tight pour out the water, and fill 1/2 with vinegar

step 3

take baggie with vinegar and twist tie into the shower.

you may want to hold the twist tie in your mouth or tuck it in your pocket

carefully and slowly slip the baggie of vinegar over the shower head until the shower head is fully submerged in the vinegar

Step 4

use the twist tie to secure the baggie around the pipe above the shower head

some vinegar may spill out as you do this - and it does not need to be perfect but make sure all ends of the baggie are up and it is tightly secured so the baggie does not slip off or leak

pour out the vinegar

use a cloth or brush to wipe off the shower head.

Step 7

rinse out baggie and refill 1/2 with water

slide back on shower head, squeeze with hand to swish water through shower head to rinse.

I love this lens. Who would have ever thought to write about cleaning a shower head? And, yet, it is interesting and tells you where to get all the stuff you need to do it, too.
