How to copy music from iPod to Computer

Copy Music to Computer using SharePod

Unfortunately, iTunes does not allow you to move your music from your iPod or iPhone directly to your computer.

Creating a backup of your music is always a good idea in case you either switch to a non-Apple device or have a failure with your device.

SharePod is a great (and free!) program that allows you to easily transfer your music from your iPod or iPhone to your computer.

Here's How to Copy your Music to your Computer!

First, you will need to download SharePod.

Next, plug in your iPod without iTunes running and run SharePod.

Once SharePod recognizes your iPod and displays all of your music, highlight the songs you would like to copy to your computer. If you want all of your music backed up, click on one song and then press Ctrl+A. This will select all of the songs for you.

Next, click the button near the upper left that says Copy to PC.

This will bring up a window: Select a destination folder (where you would like your music to be copied to) and how you would like the folders to be organized (e.g. Artist>Album>Song)

Click okay and let SharePod do its magic!

Another Option is YamiPod

If SharePod isn't quite your cup of tea, YamiPod is another great utility for copying your music from your iPod or iPhone to your computer. Personally, I prefer SharePod. However, both are great programs. Try out both and let me know what you think with a comment!

Here is a link to YamiPod.

If you really enjoy these programs, consider donating to their creators. You know, maybe just a mornin' cup o' coffee?

Sometimes all we really need is one solid recommendation, to save a whole pile of sorting through yet another "100 Best...etc" links list. Thanks for this!
