How to create a Wordpress Blog that gets Google Page 1 rankings

Ranked #2,456 in Internet, #143,599 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

Why I love Wordpress!

I have a confession to make.

I love Wordpress. Better said, I love building websites in Wordpress.

In fact, I have built over 100 Wordpress sites.

Why?

Because it is just so darn easy.

Here are my favorite things about Wordpress:

Easy of installation: My Web Host has a one-click script that installs Wordpress and all of the database configurations in seconds (If your Web Host does not install Wordpress like this or if you need Hosting Click Here).

Themes: When setting up a traditional html website, you could spend hours and hours trying to get your site to look the way you want it to (If you are lucky enough to know html). With Wordpress, all you have to do is find a theme you like, do a quick install and your website will look just the way you want it (With no coding)!

Wordpress Plugins: Wordpress Plugins just rock! If you don't know what plugins are, let me explain. A plugin is a set of code that is built to perform a certain task in Wordpress. For example, Wordpress out of the box does not do a great job with SEO (Search Engine Optimization), but there are several plugins that do. I will explain this in more detail over the coming weeks, but in essence all you have to do is find a plugin to do what you need done, do a quick install and you are off and running. No coding needed!

Adding Content: Again, Wordpress makes it very easy. If you can use a word processor like Microsoft Word, you add content to Wordpress. Not only that, you can add hyperlinks, bolding, underlining and a ton of other options without having to know a bit of html. Just highlight the text you want to change and click a button.

Widgets: Much like plugin, widgets allow you display things like link menus, calendars and archive information on the side panel of your site without coding a thing.

Google Loves Wordpress: There is no doubt that Google loves Wordpress sites, therefore, I love Wordpress sites. If you continue to add good quality, original content, Google will love you for it.

Over the next several weeks, I will be showing you in depth how to install Wordpress, how to add a theme, how to add plugins, and how to add widgets. I will also be sharing with you some of my favorite themes, plugins and tricks to get your site ranking high.

Bluehost Review

Find out what I love and don't love about Bluehost Web Hosting

undefinedI have used BlueHost for all of my Web Hosting for the past five years. In fact, have now hosted over 100 blogs on BlueHost. Here are my pros and cons of their service%u2026

Pros:

1. BlueHost is inexpensive: For about the price of a good cup of coffee, I can host an unlimited number of blogs.

2. BlueHost does not have any extra charges: My bill from BlueHost is the same every month. There are no ugly surprises.

3. BlueHost is reliable: In the past five years, none of my websites have suffered any down time

4. BlueHost Customer Service is amazing: On the rare occasion I have needed to call them, I always get a highly knowledgeable and professional technician on the phone who actually solves my problem. Amazing!

5. BlueHost is easy to use: BlueHost has the best in the industry cPanel. Everything I need is in one easy to navigate location.

6. BlueHost has 1 Click Scripts: As I have said before, I love Wordpress and BlueHost allows me to install Wordpress and the new database with one click.

Cons:

1. You can't run amuck: At one point I was running a plugin on one of my Wordpress sites that went crazy. BlueHost sent me an email to clean up the plugin as it was filling up all of their servers (This seemed like a reasonable request) and then they even jumped in and helped me fix it.

Now for the really good news. BlueHost is now running a special that reduces their monthly fee even further.

This makes BlueHost a no-brainer.

I hope my BlueHost Review was helpful.

The Easiest Way add Adsense to your Wordpress Blog

Make some quick cash!

One of the first things you have to decide when creating your blog is "Are you doing this for fun, or do you want to make some money from it". If you are looking to make money from your blog, one of the easiest ways to to it is to add Adsense to your blog.

Adsense can be very simple to add to Wordpress, or it can be very difficult. I am going to show you the simple way.

To begin, you need to choose a theme that is built for Adsense.

What does that mean?

A great Adsense Theme must include the following...

1. Easy to install adsense (ie - Adsense code pasted in with no fuss).
2. Colors of ads must match theme without a lot of work.
3. Ads must be displayed in the area where people are likely to click on them.
4. Ads must rotate to different parts of the theme so people do not become blind to them.

In my opinion, if I am setting up a Wordpress site that has Adsense on it, there is only one them that I will use and that is the CTR Theme (Click Here to purchase the CTR Theme).

Here are the benefits of the CTR Theme -

1. You can install your Wordpress code by just pasting the text block you get from Google into existing blocks in the theme.
2. You can choose from one of four different layouts by clicking a button.
3. The colors of your ad are blended automatically to match the layout you choose (This will get you a higher click through rate).
4. Ads are automatically placed in the places that get the highest click through rate.
5. Ads are rotated automatically so that your visitors do not get ad blindness.

I am currently running the CTR Theme on 22 sites and my click through rate has soared on everyone of my sites. This theme is not free, but it is cheap and you can put it on as many sites as you wish.

If you want to use the CTR Theme on your site, here is what you need to do.

1. Click Here to purchase the CTR Theme.
Install the CTR Theme per my instructions in the module above.
2. You will be emailed an activation key.
3. Once you have this key, log into your Wordpress admin panel and scroll down until you see the CTR Theme on the left side. Click on that.
4. Go to Activation Settings and enter your email id and Activation Key. Hit save and your theme will be activated.
5. Click on "General Site Options" and choose the layout you want.
6. Click on "Adsense Options" and add your Adsense code in each of the blocks.

A couple of things. If you don't have any Adsense account, Click Here to sign up for an account.

Once there go to the tab and follow the directions on how to create ads. I have found text only ads to work the best. Create an ad for each of the boxes in the CTR Theme (i.e. 160x600) and paste the code into the box.

That is all there is to it. If your site is getting a decent amount of traffic already, you should see your Adsense revenue s

It checks if a post has image in it and has an alt tag containing the focus keyword. It also verifies the suitable length of the post and if it has meta descriptions then they focus the required keyword. It performs several similar jobs to make your site just perfect for your search engines.

Having used the .org version of WP for about 3 months now, I can say I love it. I would add one PlugIn to your 5 essential list. Akismet. It is a terrific spam filter, easy to use and easy to configure. Good lens.

I have the Twenty Ten theme on my Kids & Glitter wordpress blog. Do you know if or how to add Adsense to that theme? I'll be following your lens to see if there are ideas that I can use also. Thanks for the great lens.
  • fmessina Nov 10, 2011 @ 9:21 pm | delete
There are adsense plugins you can add, but they take a bit of work. You have to mannually match the colors to your theme and they don't rotate like the CTR Theme. If you are going to set up several adsense sites, the CTR theme can not be beat.
  • sherioz Nov 7, 2011 @ 11:18 pm | delete
