How to Cure Panic Attacks Permanently

Curing panic attacks permanently is something that any chronic panic attack sufferer can achieve

There is no magic pill that will cure panic attacks for good and everybody is a little bit different. The frequency and severity of panic attacks also varies among sufferers, but what is known is that panic attacks can be cured. Although the length of time between when someone begins a program to cure panic attacks permanently and the time they are panic attack free, varies from person to person it is widely accepted that the dedication with which each person applies the techniques discussed in this lens will greatly influence how successful they will be at curing their panic attacks for good.

How to Cure Panic Attacks - Step One

The first step to curing panic attacks is identifying the cause

Panic attacks can be triggered by a number of stressors, which are any type of stress-inducing incident. Everybody has different stressors in their life, but one of the ways that you can determine what your stressors are is by asking yourself a series of questions. Ultimately you will determine your own questions, but for now some examples are: "Am I taking on too much additional responsibilities at work?", "Is there something family related that I keep dwelling on?", "Am I getting enough exercise?", "Are my finances worrying me?" and so on. These are the types of questions that can help you determine what the stress-inducing events are in your life. Once you determine what your stressors are, you can start to work on ways to alleviate those types of stress inducing thoughts from your life.

Work to alleviate the stressors identified above from your life

Once you have identified the things that are responsible for much of the stress in your life do your best to remove or minimize them to the best of your ability. Here is an example: Suppose you asked yourself the question: "Am I taking on too much family responsibility?" And the answer you arrived at was, "Yes, I am. I am currently taking care of my aging father and I always have the relatives at my place for the holidays. In addition, I always say yes when my sister asks me to babysit her kids." Then what you need to do is acknowledge this and the next time your sister asks you to babysit, you may have to decline. There's no need to be rude and you can even explain that you are feeling overwhelmed and that has lead you to have panic attacks and simply explain your situation. Try not to feel guilty and if the person you are talking to really cares for you, they will understand.

How to Cure Panic Attacks Step Three

Additional techniques to reduce or elimiate your panic attacks

Learning to breathe properly can greatly diminish the frequency and intensity of your panic attacks. When you are stressed your breathing becomes shallow (or short) hence the term 'short of breath. Shortness of breath is one of the causes of panic attacks. So, whenever you are feeling stressed and feel that this might lead to a panic attack, stop whatever you are doing and focus on breathing deeply and evenly. Breath the air in through your nose and let it fill your lungs entirely, (you will know this has happened if you see your stomach pop out.) Hold the air in for a few seconds and then breath out slowly through your mouth. Doing this for about 60 seconds any time you begin to feel overwhelmed will help you feel better right away. While deep breathing is certainly helpful, many people have said that their number one most effective techniques for curing their panic attacks has been a surprising simple set of exercises that they were able to complete in less than one hour and that by continuing to do these.exercises a few times per week they have been able to live panic attack free.

Other things that have worked for some panic attack sufferers are: yoga, meditation and certain dietary changes such as removing caffeine from their diet. Certain lifestyle changes can also reduce or eliminate panic attacks altogether. These can be as radical as changing jobs or as simple as moving closer to an existing job in order to reduce commuting time! Hopefully some of these techniques will help you cure your panic attacks, as well!
