No matter what your choice of diet plan may be, going hungry is the quickest way to find yourself off plan and out of control. You should never feel hunger pangs, even while trying to lose weight. It shouldn't be about self-deprivation, but about learning how to satisfy and fill yourself in a controlled, healthful manner.

Drink Water
Make sure you are drinking enough water to sustain bodily functions on a daily basis. Many people believe they get the water they need from their food, but it is important to realize that if you don't take in enough water your body will send hunger signals, trying to get you to eat just for the water source. Why take in extra calories just to get water, when it is a calorie-free substance?
Eat Frequently
You may have been told over and over again not to eat unless you feel real hunger, but I think that needs to be changed just a little. You want to eat frequent, smaller meals throughout the day to prevent hunger. For most people, by the time they recognize that they are really hungry, then prepare or track down food, they are starving. They are less likely to make the best choices at that point, and will take in too much food in a shorter period of time trying to relieve that uncomfortable hungry feeling.It's best to prevent getting too hungry by eating at regular intervals throughout the day. The best way to learn how to deal with hunger is to portion out your daily calories throughout the entire day so you will not have a long period of time without food.
Get Moving
Exercise can be your natural appetite suppressant! If you find yourself wanting to eat and you are sure it's not real hunger then try to get in a little extra workout instead. The hormonal change created in the body will put you in a better mood and it's highly likely you'll no longer feel like eating afterward. Also, many people find they don't want to ruin the calorie burn they just created by snacking on foods that are bad for them.If you think you don't have time for a quick workout, then ask yourself how much time would it have taken to eat that extra food, and get moving instead!
Learning how to deal with hunger can be a bit of a challenge for people who have been overeating for most of their lives. That connection with your body will develop if you stick to your plan and really start listening to the signals and feelings you have.
