& Interviews with Couch Potatoes
Have you ever wondered how some people can sit around and do absolutely nothing all day long? Believe it or not, some people are REALLY good at it. I bet if you think real hard you could probably come up with someone you know who's a regular couch potato.
Anyhow, there is something to be learned from people who do absolutely nothing and that thing is how to relax. For some people, this is really hard to do. Yes, some people just can't keep still for more then 5 minutes!
Well, this lens is all about resting and relaxation. It is different then all the other lenses you'll see on this topic in that you'll have actual testimonies from people who have trouble relaxing and people who have no trouble relaxing. Together, we can find solutions for everyone - hopefully. ;)

Would your friends consider you lazy?

No, never!
Ramkitten says:
Just the opposite. I'm definitely one of those go-go-go, do-do-do people.
ElizabethJeanAllen says:
No! I rarely sit down and just relax. There are too many things I want to see and do. If there were 30 hour days I might be able to relax once in awhile.
I Just Can't Relax. Help!
Diagnosing your inability to relax
It's hard to determine why some people can't relax. Sometimes it has nothing more to do with than a deep seeded guilt of sitting still too long. I remember times when my mom, sister and I would be sitting at the kitchen table just chatting, playing a game, looking through old photos to get a good laugh or picking through our jewelry boxes and then my dad would walk in from working out in the hot fields all morning and doing chores. He'd get out a piece of paper and make a list of chores for us to do right there on the spot. Or he'd get on my mom to do some big project like cleaning out the kitchen cupboards or whatever. That guilt has stayed with me big time. I always feel guilty sitting around doing nothing. I have a hard time sitting through a movie with my husband. I feel guilty if I don't get up right away and start cleaning the kitchen right after dinner.
What do you think is causing your inability to relax?
Angry People Don't Sleep Well
Perhaps you're one of them
It's a known fact that angry people have a hard time getting sleep. If you're the type of person that is angry at everything and everyone or you hold grudges, you're probably not getting very good sleep either. Being angry causes lack of sleep, causing other health problems, stress, and a vicious cycle of problems that seem larger than life. Learn to control your anger. Learn to forgive. Learn to live in harmony with others. You'll notice a dramatic difference when you change your attitude. It's a choice. Do it tonight before you go to bed and wake up a new person! Don't Complain if You're Trying to Relax
A personal experience tip
Worrying and complaining about things while you're trying to relax is counter-productive. You need to, instead, count your blessings. Take time to review the good things in your life. This will enable you to relax a whole lot easier and get that smile back on your face! Watching Movies Helps You to Relax

Are video games relaxing?
For those who play too much
We all know that video games turn your brain into mush, just like regular TV. And we all know you can gain weight playing video games because it is not exercise. Therefore, do we dare suggest that video games are relaxing? I suppose they could be depending on what kind of game you are playing. Although they are interactive, unlike regular TV, they do not require much more involvement then moving your thumb over the keypad.

What Else Makes One Lazy?
A look at your lifestyle overall
A lot of things can expose your laziness. Poor diet, lack of exercise, lack of interest, lack of discipline, lack of financial awareness and lack of relationships. But being lazy is different then relaxing. If you're an active person and feel like you're being lazy when you take a 10 minute break at work (like you're supposed to), or when you want to go out to dinner without the kids (you should!), or when you want to feel what it's like to be pampered sometime, then you need to relax! You are NOT lazy just because you want to rest and be pampered. There's a difference. Stress kills! Take that break! Getting Your Kids to Relax

- Great lens, but you knew that :) Just wanted to remind you that this is featured on the Humor and Hilarity Headquarters: http://www.squidoo.com/groups/humor_hilarity
It's now transformed into a lensography and I would love it if you could feature it here, or lensroll it or something.

- You're so right, relaxing isn't always easy and it's something I tend to have to remind myself to do. On the other hand, I'm often pretty relaxed while DOING something (particularly hiking) but not relaxed at all when sitting. I get antsy. My favorite way to "do nothing" and relax is to lie in bed, lights off, and think.
Great job on this lens. Lots of nice ideas.

- I know relaxing is important but I like being busy. As long as I eat right, exercise, and get a good night sleep... I know when I'm reaching overload. When I do, I shut down for a few hours so I guess I know how to relax...sort of.
Great Lens
