How You Can Get Better Grades In School

Now that you have looked over some reasons that may cause poor grades in school, lets look at how you can do better in school.

Study More

How To Do Better In School Tip #1

If you aren't doing well in school right now, it may simply be because study time is being cut too short.

Try these out when you study next time.

1.) Study in a quiet place with no distractions. Not only will this help you focus and study better, it may end up that you can take less time to study, since your productivity is increased.

2.) Study when you are able to concentrate and focus. If you can, try studying when your mind is most alert, otherwise, you may just be wasting your time studying when you are half-asleep. Pick a time to study when you are most awake.

3.) Try to study in the same place each time. Designate a time and place of study. If you study on your bed, reconsider doing this. Your body associates the bed as a place of rest, studying here may not put you in the right mindset. Designating a place for just study, and studying there may may help to put you in the right mindset.

Watch Your Eating Habits

How To Do Better In School Tip #2

The next time you eat, notice how you feel afterwards. If you start feeling tired, you may want to consider eating less during your meals, especially if you have a class or test afterwards.

It takes a large amount of our energy to digest food. It takes even more energy to digest the food if you are over-eating. The energy that goes to digestion is energy that is taken away from our other bodily functions, like concentration. This is why you may feel tired after a meal.

The school lifestyle doesn't really help this habit of over-eating. If you only get so many meals a day, or don't have a lot of time to eat, you most likely are going to gorge yourself because it will be awhile before you eat again.

Smaller and more frequent meals are much easier on our bodies than opening the hatch and dumping it in as fast as you can.

If you have a class or test after a meal, try to eat a light meal.

Refrain from the following

  1. Heavy Eating

  2. Sugar

  3. White Flower

Keep a Healthy Balance

How To Do Better In School Tip #3

Balance all of your outside activities such as sports, hobbies, friends, social life, etc.

If you want to do better in school, have balance. There is a time for fun, and there is a time for study. If you want to do better in school, you may have to sacrifice some fun in exchange for better grades.

If You Need Help, Ask!

How To Do Better In School Tip #4

If you are spending enough time studying, but you just don't get it. Ask for help!

Get a tutor to help you, or ask the teacher for help. It's their job to help you. Don't be afraid of asking them to do their job, after all, that is what they are getting paid for.

If you get back a test that you did bad on, go and ask the teacher about it. Have them go over the test with you and explain every question you were marked wrong on. Be proactive about your grades.

When you write a paper, write the paper early and go and ask the teacher if they can review it before you turn it in. You'll get a better grade on your paper.

Respect your teacher and be a good student. Don't be afraid to ask them for help. If your grade is on the line between a C and a B, the teacher may be more likely to help you out and bump your grade to a B if they know you tried hard in their class.

Take Care of Yourself & Drink Plenty of Water

How To Do Better In School Tip #5

Poor diet, not enough exercise and simply just not taking care of yourself can affect anyone's life, and grades, negatively.

Get plenty of sleep, eat healthy, and get enough exercise.

One thing that affects concentration more than most people realize is water. We need it to function right, buy yet most overlook it's extreme importance to our bodies.

Our brain needs water. The brain is around 3/4th's water! Think how hard it would be for a human brain to operate at full capacity without enough water in the system.
