Draw a cartoon cowboy with this easy to follow step-by-step tutorial.

This tutorial will show you step-by-step how to draw a picture of a cartoon cowboy. We will be using simple shapes so even the most novice artist will be able to achieve expert results. When following theses directions it is always better to began your drawing with step one, then step two, and so on this will assure you that you get the desired effect from your completed drawing.

The term cowboy usually brings to mind the Old West of the United States, but cowboys exist wherever cattle are raised. The cowboys of the Argentine pampas are called gauchos. Those of Chile are huasos, and Mexican cowboys are vaqueros. The cowboy of Canada is much the same as the cowboy of the United States.

How To Draw A Cowboy #1

Start off with a couple bowed lines. You have should now have something that almost looks like the Star Trek logo.

How To Draw A Cowboy #2

At about 1/3 of the way down your outside line draw a straight line across it for your cowboys head. Draw a simple face. Keep the face pretty low, as you will still need to draw his hat.

How To Draw A Cowboy #3

For your cowboys jacket draw a line extending straight down from both ends of the line you drew for the face. When the lines reach the top of the curved line you drew in step one angle it slightly upwards towards his body.
On the outside of the line you drew for the face start another downwards line for your cowboys arms. His arms should end at about the same place as his jacket did.

How To Draw A Cowboy #4

Draw a couple slightly curved lines just above the bottom of your cowboy's jacket for his belt.
Where you drew the straight line for your cowboy's head make an upside down triangle. Extend one side of the triangle just a tad than run it perpendicular until it hits his belt
Inside the triangle you just drew make an upside-down "V" The V will become your cowboy's bandana and the outsides of it will be the collars for his shirt.

How To Draw A Cowboy #5

Right above your cowboys eyes draw a big flat oval for the brim of his hat. For the crown of his hat draw a curved line slightly below the center of the oval for the brim.
The hands and feet I tried to keep as simple as possible.

How To Draw A Cowboy #6

Add any adornments you want your cowboy to have such as s sheriffs star, gun, ears, hatband, buttons, belt buckle, ect.

How To Draw A Cowboy #7

Color and he's ready to shoot it out at the OK corral.
