How To Draw A Cartoon Elephant

Ranked #1,220 in Arts & Design, #15,659 overall

Draw a cartoon elephant with this easy to follow step-by-step lesson.

In this step by step tutorial, you'll learn how to draw a cute elephant cartoon. We will be using simple shapes so even the most novice artist will be able to achieve expert results.

You should be able to follow this tutorial pretty easily using only the pictures provided. Although written account is given of each step, hopefully you wouldn't need it. However if you do get stuck along the way the written instructions may come in handy.

Remember the more you draw cartoons the better they will become. And the better they become the more you will enjoy cartooning!

How to Draw a Cartoon Elephant #1

Start with a circle for your elephant's head. Draw another larger circle for the body slightly below the top of the head.

How to Draw a Cartoon Elephant #2

The ears are basically rectangles the have been curved to match the contour of the elephants head. A sideways "V" has been added to show the folds in his ears.

How to Draw a Cartoon Elephant #3

Add two small circles about half below the elephant's body for his feet.

How to Draw a Cartoon Elephant #4

Flatten the bottom of his feet.

How to Draw a Cartoon Elephant #5

Draw his trunk. This is the only part of the elephant that's not symmetrical. One side of the trunk is an "l" the other a "J" looping around to connect with the "l".

How to Draw a Cartoon Elephant #6

Draw three small circles at the bottom of his feet for the pads.

How to Draw a Cartoon Elephant #7

At the sides of the trunk and a little below the top of it add a couple rounded triangles for the tusks. These should be pointing slightly outwards.

How to Draw a Cartoon Elephant #8

Halfway between the top of your elephant's head and his trunk draw two circles for his eyes. Between his tusks add a smile and some wrinkles on his trunk.

Erase any stray lines and color your drawing.

How did your Elephant turn out? Remember the most important part of drawing cartoons is to have fun!
