This tutorial will show you how to draw a cartoon football player. Professional football has been America's favorite sport since 1965. Almost double the people name professional football (31 percent) as their favorite sport compared to baseball (16 percent).

In this how to draw tutorial we will be using simple shapes so even the most novice artist will be able to achieve expert results. When following theses directions it is always better to began your drawing with step one, then step two, and so on this will assure you that you get the desired effect from your completed drawing.

How to Draw a Football Player #2

Add a rounded rectangle to the bottom half of the helmet and erase the bottom of your circle so you can see the football player's head.

How to Draw a Football Player #1

Draw a circle for his helmet. At about 1/3 of the way down the circle draw an oval for your football players head.

How to Draw a Football Player #3

On the left side of your football player draw a single straight line bowing inward. On the right side draw a straight line about 2/3 as long as the first. At the bottom of this line draw an "R" laid on its side with the "l" omitted.

How to Draw a Football Player #4

Draw a couple lines for the left arm. These lines should be slightly bowed and narrow towards the hand. The hand is a simple rounded rectangle.

How to Draw a Football Player #5

For the right arm draw half a square on a 45-degree angle. On the bottom part of your half square add a straight line. At the end of these two lines add a rounded rectangle for his hand.

How to Draw a Football Player #6

Draw a football in the crock of his arm and an oval for his left foot.

How to Draw a Football Player #7

For his face draw two rounded triangles with the points facing each other for the eyes. The nose is a triangle with the bottom line missing and the mouth looks like a pickle. I decided not to add a facemask so you can better see the face.

How to Draw a Football Player #8

Add some team or individual or team characteristics.
