Ranked #4,403 in Arts & Design, #68,242 overall

Draw a cartoon penguin with this easy to follow step-by-step tutorial.

This tutorial will show you how to draw a cartoon penguin. Penguins are birds with black and white feathers and a funny waddle. But unlike most birds, penguins are flightless.

Throughout this how to draw lesson we will be using simple shapes so even the most novice artist will be able to achieve expert results. When following theses directions it is always better to begin your drawing with step one, then step two, and so on this will assure you that you get the desired effect from your completed drawing.

How to Draw a Penguin #1

First draw a circle for the penguins head, below it draw an egg shape for the body roughly twice the size as the head.

How to Draw a Penguin #2

Now merge your circle and egg and erase all unnecessary lines.

How to Draw a Penguin #3

Repeat the first two steps only smaller. If you're confident in your skills you can freehand this step.

How to Draw a Penguin #4

Add two ovals for the eyes and a squished-up diamond for the beak. For the penguins wings simply draw a line curving away from the body then angling back up and towards the body.

How to Draw a Penguin #5

The feet are although curved at the front are flat boxes set at a perspective angle

How to Draw a Penguin #6

Erase any stray lines and color your drawing.

It turned out really cute! I like the easy steps you did. I made some pages about drawing cats and ghosts on Squidoo and they've been fairly popular with the kids.

Easy to follow, and I like that you started with such a basic picture. Nice lens.
