How To Draw A Witch

Draw a Halloween Witch with this easy to follow step-by-step tutorial.

This lesson will help you learn how to draw a cute cartoon witch! It's said that in its purest form, witchcraft is nature worship. These witches see themselves as guardians of the earth and servants of a nature goddess. That being said I feel it is only appropriate that we draw a cute witch.

We will be using simple shapes so even the most novice artist will be able to achieve expert results. When following theses directions it is always better to begin your drawing with step one, then step two, and so on this will assure you that you get the desired effect from your completed drawing.

Remember the more you draw cartoons the better they will become. And the better they become the more you will enjoy cartooning!

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #1

How To Draw A Witch #1Start with a circle for your witch's head. Below your circle and extending slightly into it draw an oval at about a 45-degree angle for the body.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #2

How To Draw A Witch #2Draw another oval about the same size as the body for the hat brim. This oval should be at about the middle of the head and on slightly less of and angle than the body. Inside the oval for the brim draw another oval about the same size as the witches head. From the ends of the oval you just drew add two lines making your witches hat come to a point.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #3

How To Draw A Witch #3Erase all unnecessary lines.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #4

How To Draw A Witch #4Under the oval for the witch's body draw two lines for the broomstick. These should be at about the same angle as her hat.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #5

How To Draw A Witch #5At about 1/3 of the way down the oval for your witch's body draw the arms at about a 90-degree angle to the broomstick making sure to leave enough room for her hands. Notice the hands I drew are simple trapezoids. I did this to keep my drawing simple. Feel free to add fingers and a thumb on your own drawing.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #6

How To Draw A Witch #6Add some hair I gave my witch a cute little bob-cut, making sure the length matched up on both sides of her head.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #7

How To Draw A Witch #7For the bottom of your witch's dress draw an elongated "s" lying on its side making sure one part of it dips below the broomstick. Merge your "s" and the oval for the body.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #8

How To Draw A Witch #8Draw the legs using a "z" shape.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #9

How To Draw A Witch #9Add two triangles and a circle to bottom the broomstick for the bristles.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #10

How To Draw A Witch #10Inside the hat draw another half oval for the hatband and two rectangles for the buckle.

How to Draw a Cartoon Witch #11

How To Draw A Witch #11Draw some simple facial features and any accessories you feel your witch needs. I gave mine buttons following the contour of her body and a collar for her dress. I also added a fold in her dress where her leg is, and a cutout from the broom.
