Applying Fertilizer

When it comes to applying fertilizer, you should never do it by hand. You have to always wear gloves and should use a spreader in order to avoid burning your lawn with concentrated amounts of fertilizer.

Fertilizer Spreaders are available in three types, hand crank models, drop spreaders, and broadcast spreaders. The hand crank or hand held models are perfect for beds in small areas like rose beds and perennial plant beds.

With a drop spreader you can cover a little larger area like a small lawn. However, with a broadcast spreader you will be able to spread a lot of fertilizer at once. So if you have a large lawn the broadcast spreader is going to be the one for you!

Having applied the fertilizer you need to clean your sidewalk and driveway so that they do not get stained. Equally you want to avoid contaminating your water runoff which could affect your local environment and water sources.
