Spyware and Adware! Get Rid Of It!

Spyware and adware can compromise your privacy, and slow down your computer!

Spyware and adware can easily invade your system, and dig themselves deep into your computer. They can slow down your computer, bombard you with popups and other messages, and compromise your privacy and even your identity.

Fortunately, there exists some very effective spyware cleaners, which will rid your computer of this malware. These programs will scan your computer and then remove all traces of these programs. I recommend NoAdware for spy/adware removal. I have probably tried almost every removal program available, both free and paid, and came to a few conclusions. Free programs do not find nearly as many programs as paid ones do, and of the paid programs, NoAdware was the most effective at detection and complete removal.

They offer a free scan download, which will scan your computer for spyware, and you will then be able to purchase the program if you want to remove the spyware and adware that it found.

Your Registry! You Need To Clean It!

The registry is often the root of a slow computer!

The registry is perhaps the most important and most overlooked part of the computer. Most people who ask, "How to fix slow computer" have a very messy registry, and this at least one cause of their problems. This is where vital keys are stored that tell your computer how to run every program. After continued use, your registry becomes bloated and disorganized with invalid shortcuts, broken drivers, and obsolete applications, resulting in a slow computer with stalling, crashing and freezing.

Fortunately, there is a great program to scan and clean your registry. I use and recommend RegistryFix. Like NoAdware, they offer a free download which will scan your computer, but you will then be required to purchase the program to clean your registry. I can tell you that this is well worth it, you will be amazed at what a difference a simple cleaning of the registry will do for you. I run it once a week and it still finds new errors every week, so I recommend purchasing it and continually using it.

Defragment Your Disk!

As your hard drive becomes fragmented, it slows down your computer!

Over time, your hard drive becomes fragmented. One file may be stored in many parts on many different areas of the hard drive. When you load this file, the drive head has to search the whole hard drive and pull up each part of the file. This can result in a very slow computer.

Windows comes with a free defragmentation tool. Simply click on Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Defragmenter. Before doing this, I recommend closing down all programs and disabling your screensaver, as it needs to run without any distractions. Depending on the size of your disk, it can take many hours, so I would suggest running it at night or when you are away from your computer.

I would recommend running this now, and running it perhaps once a month in the future to keep your disk defragmented.
