Organize Your Cookies
Plan Your Holiday Baking Schedule
The first thing you'll want to do is make a list of all the different types of Christmas cookies you plan to bake this year.Organize your list into a workable amount of cookies to be prepared over the course of several weekends.
Try to make similar types of cookies on the same day. that way you'll have less mess and clean up; for example, make all of your chocolate cookies one weekend, all sugar and butter cookies another weekend, etc.
Both baked cookies and cookie dough can be safely kept in your freezer for up to two months. That means you can spread out your cookie making plans over eight different weekends if you plan early enough.

Separate the layers using sheets of plastic wrap, wax paper, or aluminum foil. Cover the top layer with another sheet of plastic wrap or aluminum foil and tightly seal the container. Label and freeze.
Let the cookies thaw in the container for several hours before serving. Frost thawed cookies if your recipe calls for it.
