How to gain Myspace plays for your Music
A guide to getting people to listen to your music on myspace. The popularity of myspace may have taken a hit in recent years, but it's still many peoples weapon of choice for hosting their music for people to hear. Here are some handy tips on driving people there.
Why should I?
So why should I promote my music myspace page?
Of course you should be promoting your myspace page, if you have one, perhaps not for the social reasons you may have chosen Five years ago, but ultimately, it's still a well built site, it's still popular, and it now lets you link to somewhere people can download (BUY!) your music. Used correctly, it's free advertising. Used brilliantly, it can work wonders for your music.

Embed, embed, EMBED! Myspace gives you the option to embed songs elsewhere on the internet! (Did I say embed enough in that sentence?) All you need to do is click on the song on your player and Myspace will give you the code. Think of all the places you can embed your player, be creative with it! Popular places include your blog, your band website, your profiles on sites, guest posts on other sites, your email signature, an email newsletter. Put it anywhere visible, and better still, put a brief description of why its there underneath the icon. Look, here's a song embedded in this Lens!
It may not be the embed you remember from the good ol' Myspace days, but it still allows you to send people straight to your player and get them listening!
Submit to blogs. Send your music to bloggers and reviewers, and make sure you link them to your Myspace too, that way any reviews you get, any time the blogger promotes their blog to their followers, they will at least have a good opportunity to find your music, and if they like it, there's no reason they wont remember you, or even part with their cash.
Ask! There's no shame in asking your friends to listen to your music, and there's no harm in asking them to ask their friends to listen to your music. You might need to read the previous sentence twice.
Build a mailing list! Services like Your Mailing List Provider offer free or cheap solutions to build a mailing list and give you concise information as to how you can use it. Get people signed up via your various social networks (even your myspace page), that way, you've got them hooked - whenever you upload a new track, you can make sure they hear about it.
Use your other social networks. Tweet? Use Facebook? Send your followers to your myspace and you can achieve some impressive 'plays' stats, and prove to people you're worthy of a play!
