Alright, first you need make sure your body can handle this type of change. After all, you've been this skinny your entire life, haven't you? Putting on extra weight can be hard on your body especially if it is "fat" because it can actually inhibit blood flow and other normal bodily functions. This is the biggest reason why when you want to gain weight, it is really important that you don't try to do it only by "eating more food". Because you want to gain healthy body mass (muscle), you need to introduce yourself to a regular healthy diet that contains high protein, low fat and a medium amount of carbohydrates. [see the links below for more information]Protein is great for building muscle - it is basic building block required by the amino acids in our body to build muscle tissue! Do you know what else is great about muscle? When you use them, they burn fat! :)
Carbohydrates (carbs) are great for cardio - if you're trying to get lean or just plain fit so that you can run a marathon or climb a mountain, you need your cardio. Cardio goes hand-in-hand with building muscle because since it gets your blood pumping, it takes more oxygen to your muscles, helps release lactic acid build-up, and therefore assists in maintaining healthy muscle growth.

Well most of them eat every 2 hours - this is great if you a skinny minnie because after about 2 hours, your body goes into what it feels is "starvation mode" where it actually uses fat and/or muscle for fuel. If you are constantly fueling your body with high protein foods, you don't have to worry about it eating up all your precious muscle (probably not much of your fat because you're already so darn skinny).
So some really great things I recommend are carrying protein bars, nut mixes, or also protein shake mix -ready to mix or already mixed. I personally use a great line of health products by visalus sciences which are very high in protein and low in fat, you can check them out on my website (links provided below).
Now for actually building the muscles. You should spend at least 30 minutes/5 days a week going physical activity that works on the areas that you want to see built/toned. The best way to BUILD is with RESISTANCE. So, for example, if you want to tone your "pipes" (arms), you should weight lift. For size - you want to choose a weight that will give you 8-10 reps per exercise. For lean, you want to choose a weight 12-15 reps per exercise. If you are doing more than 15 reps, you need a heavier weight. It is typical to do approximately 5-8 different exercises on one area of the body (5 exercises x 10 reps = 50 total reps - nice!)
