Every day, across the U.S. alone, many thousands of background checks are run for a variety of reasons.  The information disclosed in these reports is used by employers deciding on potential employees, by landlords deciding on potential tenants, by financial institutions processing loan applications, by colleges, as well as by many individuals for various personal reasons.

Background checks can reveal a wealth of information concerning an individual. The typical report will usually contain information such as the following:
