Get More Traffic to Your Squidoo Lens with Twitter

The first thing you need to do is register a NEW username with Twitter. This usually requires you to make a new e-mail address (I use Gmail, personal preference) to sign up with.

Now, think HARD of a good catchy name that relates to your lens.

Example: My lens is about violin music.

Possible Usernames:
ViolinMusic
ILikeViolinMusic
ViolinLover

Don't even bother to do these:
jen2342398259
mark23434
violin3459839098

*SPAMMY SPAM LOOKING*

After you have registered your unique username, the next step is to CUSTOMIZE your Twitter.

In the top right corner click on your "Settings" then over to your Profile tab.

1.Choose a picture wisely (relating to your lens topic!)
2. Make sure your name looks right
3. Location (Put whatever you'd like, it doesn't matter)
4. Web--Most important! Put your LENS URL!
5. Bio--Either talk about yourself or put a little teaser about your lens (NOT SPAMMY!!)

Good Example:

"Hello! I am very passionate about violin music, as I have been playing for 8 years :)"

Bad Example:

"Check out my website with FREE violin music and discounts*1!8*! !! "

6. Click SAVE

After that, go to your Design Tab (still in your Settings)

This is VERY IMPORTANT! You need to find a professional looking background related to your lens.

2.Twitter Backgrounds and Layouts
3. Twitter Backgrounds

After finding the PERFECT LAYOUT click "Change Background Image" then click "Save Changes" (Check "Tile" if you need to).

Congratulations you're almost done!

Next, verify your account by going to your email and activating it.

Now it's time to make your first TWEET! Write:

Check out *YOUR URL HERE* :)

(I add the smiley face because it seems friendly!)

IMPORTANT: One tweet ONLY, EVER, ON YOUR ACCOUNT AT A TIME!! This gives a prompt to every person that discovers your Twitter to click on the link.

The next thing to do is find a target audience about your lens.

I, myself use YouTube to my advantage. I find a GURU on a certain topic on there (related to my lens) and see if they are on Twitter. If you pick a popular person, they will more than likely have over 10,000 followers (Perfect!)

Now, here is the key to getting fast views:
1. Go to the Guru's Twitter profile page
2. Click on "Followers"
3. On the left side it has either the "Expanded" or "List" View, CLICK THE LIST VIEW-This will save you 30min of your time! (See Below with the red circle)

4. Now, for the fun part! (Not really hehe) go down the list clicking "Follow"
QUICK TIP:Follow the people that have the little lock next to their username, because they will HAVE to go to your profile to see who you are!

5. Make sure you don't add more than 550 users (Twitter will think you're SPAM and ban you!!)
6. As soon as you reach following 550 people, bookmark the next page of members. This is important if you are going to make another account, so you won't add the people you already did!

Sit back and watch the views on your lens rise! Phewww that wasn't so bad, was it? :)
