As you age it becomes harder to keep a slim figure as your metabolism slows down on approaching middle age. High fibre foods including lots of fresh vegetables and fruit will fill you up as not only are they great at removing toxins from the body but they also take longer to break down and digest keeping the blood sugar levels stable.
Belly fat is far more dangerous to your health than fats distributed around other areas of the body. A recent study has linked belly fat to dementia and a higher risk of diabetes.
The fat in this area of the body is connected to insulin resistance and as a result someone with large amounts of stomach fat is much more likely to develop diabetes.
