Ranked #11,886 in Healthy Living, #191,326 overall

How to get ripped at home is about using bodyweight exercises and minimal equipment. The first thing you need to understand is you really can get ripped at home. Ever notice how ripped gymnasts are? That muscle mass isn't created by hitting the gym every day, they get that thanks to all the bodyweight exercises they do each day. Working out at home means you will be doing exactly this, bodyweight exercises.

Bodyweight exercises work out your muscles in ways and angles that lifting weights can't. Unlike using machines in the gym you can engage numerous muscles at the same time with bodyweight exercises. You build up your functional strength, so it is useful for day to day life. At the same time you will bulk up and look great.

You may be a gym rat and love your weight training, even so you should really try out some bodyweight exercises now and then.

In order to work out specific muscle groups you are going to need a couple of things. 2 pieces of equipment that are mandatory to get a good at home workout are a pullup bar and dumbbell.

With the dumbbells you will be able to work your arms well while using the pull up bar to focus on your back muscles.

When it comes to working out your muscles you can do compound and isolation movements.

The majority of bodyweight exercises would be classed as compound movements. This means that the movement engages many different muscle groups (like pushups or squats). Isolation movements target one muscle group (like a bicep curl). You should do both isolation and compound exercises if you want to get the best results.

Which is why you need to invest in some dumbbells. While pushups and pullups workout the arm, it is only a compound movement. With dumbbells you will be able to workout your biceps, triceps and shoulders better. The secret to gaining muscle mass is as follows....

To gain muscle size, do higher repetitions. Make sure you do the workouts slowly and steadily, without the proper form you won't get the right results so will be wasting a lot of your own time. For a specific workout routine, check out the article on my blog: How to get ripped at home
