Now click Add Friends

Click on the Add Friends list. A window with all your friends will pop up.

Select all your friends and then click done. (If you have more than 100 friends see alternative method below video.)

You can also click on the Friends box in the top of the popup and change it to Pages to add your pages.

Now when you want to see your news feed like it was before the Facebook changes just click on Old News Feed from the home page under Lists.

I hope this helps out. If you have any questions or comments feel free to post at the bottom of this page.

Also click like on my fan page at the bottom thanks guys.

Have More Than 100 Friends? Select Them All Automatically

If you have a large list of friends selecting them all manually may take a lot of work. In this section I will explain how you can select all your friends in the popup box automatically.

First create the list as mentioned above. When your friends appear in the box scroll down to be sure the full list of friends is loaded.

Once your full friends is loaded into the popup box. Copy paste the following green code into the top of your browser in the address bar and hit enter. It may take some time so wait a few minutes until it selects all friends. Once all friends are selected click done.

javascript:elms=document.getElementsByName("checkableitems[]");for (i=0;i<elms.length;i++){if (elms[i].type="checkbox"
)elms[i].click()};

Let me know how you make out.

    Great advice--I hope it helps a lot of people. I'm so tired of the constant changes at FB, I hardly ever even look at it anymore.
  • gravityx9 Oct 13, 2011 @ 11:04 pm | delete
    I didn't use FB much before the change so it was easy for me to adapt. I like the idea of lists, and allowing/disallowing people to see certain posts.......or was that always available? lol
  • mumsgather Oct 10, 2011 @ 8:53 pm | delete
    Thanks for this. I hate the new changes.

    I'd heard there was a way to do this but hadn't seen the "how to" until now. Well, I'll definitely consider doing this ... but watch, as soon as I do, FB will change something else and un-do the work. *sigh* Thanks, though. Good info.

    I was unable to get the javascript to work in FrireFox. It worked in Chrome, but still only added the first 100. Thankfully, I have fewer than 300 friends so it didn't take too long to add the rest. Also, this probably goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. If you add any new friends after this list is complete, make sure you add them to this list, or they won't show there at all.
  • 2paulm Oct 5, 2011 @ 11:25 pm | delete
    @James if you have a large number of friends the select all code may fail. You will need to run a limiter version of the code as follows:

    javascript:elms=document.getElementsByName("checkableitems[]");for (i=0;i<500;i++){if (i>1) {if (elms[i].type="checkbox" )elms[i].click()}};

    As you can see it selects everyone under the first 500 and above the first 1

    So once you run this type of limiter you need to run it again changing the 500 to 1000 and the 1 to 500... This way you select 500 at a time

    Is there a way to have an RSS feed go only on your fan/business page and not on your personal page? I don't want to bug my friends and family with constant business updates -- only the ones signed on as fans.

    Paul- your instructions were nice and clear and i followed them but my friends are not loading- it seems to be on perpetual search. is it possible that FB has already blocked your solution? mahalo!
  • 2paulm Sep 26, 2011 @ 7:57 pm | delete
    It doesn't load right in some versions of internet explorer you will need to use Firefox or Chrome to do it.
  • Tipi Sep 25, 2011 @ 9:18 pm | delete
    I would guess there are a lot of people who will be appreciating your tips here!

    easy way to add friends to list is to go to games home page and click on friends who play this on right side of screen .
  • Mosoma Sep 24, 2011 @ 11:21 am | delete
    Thanks for the info.
  • katawampus Sep 24, 2011 @ 7:14 am | delete
    Hey Paul, just figured out an easy way to add the friends: sounds more complicated , but it makes it easy to track! : on the search bar above the friends list, click each letter of the alphabet seperately, that will bring up all of your friends that start with that letter! much easier to scroll through and keep track of in smaller groups! Miss fewer people!
  • Deb Lerew Sep 23, 2011 @ 8:53 pm | delete
    Paul, I followed the instructions, but when I go to my homepage under lists, there is nothing to select for Old News Feed.
  • 2paulm Sep 23, 2011 @ 9:03 pm | delete
    Deb if its not showing under Lists you must have had some trouble when you created it. I would try again.

    There have been some reports of the friends list not loading using Internet Explorer. Firefox or Chrome work best for this operation
  • PVJ Sep 25, 2011 @ 10:17 pm | delete
    just saw this response- i am on explorer so maybe that's the problem. thanks again

    changed it back to the "old newsfeed". AH, so much easier. Why don't they leave well enough alone
  • Sherry Sep 22, 2011 @ 9:28 pm | delete
    I have created the page,but when I go to add friends,the box that pops up to choose from is not loading. It looks like it is trying to load my friends but taking a long time so I get impatient and just close the window. Any suggestions?
  • 2paulm Sep 22, 2011 @ 9:29 pm | delete
    Sherry it is buggy in some versions of Internet explorer. If you open facebook with firefox or chrome it will solve your problem.
  • Debbie Sep 22, 2011 @ 8:55 pm | delete
    The only problem with this is that you can't see pages that you have clicked like to....any suggestions would be appreciated....thanks heaps
  • Shelley Sep 23, 2011 @ 3:09 pm | delete
