Mastering the Game Of Golf

Anyone can master the game of Golf

For a lot of people that play the game of golf, the hardest thing to master is putting. Putting has to be done differently than your normal golf swing. The mechanics of putting requires you to hold your putter with a different grip. You should hold the putter so that the handle is resting between the pads of your palm and your right hands use your fingers and palm, so that when your right hand is open it is directly in line with the putter. When putting being comfortable is key. You will have to find the right balance for you.

There are three types of putting strokes. There is the shoulder stroke, the wrist stroke and the combination stroke. The first one that I mentioned is the shoulder stroke, in this stroke you keep your wrist straight and use your arms and shoulders to make your swing. This type of stroke has proven to be the most consistent type. The next one is the wrist stroke; just as it sounds the motion of the putter is all based on moving just your wrist and hands. The last one is the combination stroke; this entails motion of your shoulders, your arms, your wrists and hands. Since each person is different you should take the time to determine which stroke is best suited for you.

Now since a good portion of golfers will spend somewhere around 2/3rds of the time putting, it is the ideal thing to practice at the beginning and end of practice session. The biggest problem most players face when working on their putting game is fear. They are afraid of missing the putt. As soon as someone has missed a few putts on the practice green they have a tendency to start to tinker with their putt. The best course of action to do in this case is not to try to try to mess with how you are putting but to just continue the same way till you have gain confidence in your putting. For more useful information I suggest you check out HowToGolf.org . There is a wealth of knowledge for golfers of all skill levels.
