How To Improve Memory and Information Retention

Are you frustrated by your complete lack of ability to remember things? Do you read an article or book and then can't remember anything more than just a basic overview of what it was about? Then this lens is dedicated to you!
Below I will go through some of the exercises that will show you how to increase memory and improve information retention. It's all about exercise! It works for every other muscle in our body so we must also exercise the 'muscle' of our brain. If you don't use it, you'll lose it!
We were all born with an amazing ability to absorb information and learn and development. We used a larger portion of our brain capacity, yet over the years we've trained our brains to think less, to use less of it's capacity and we've basically become lazy. With some exercising though, we can strengthen our nueral pathways, think more clearly and retain more information. We even have the ability of photographic memory development, but we'll get to that in a minute!

Need To Know How To Improve Memory - Try A Few Simple Techniques

Six tips to help you remember all the important stuff.

1. Pay attention. You can't remember something if you never learned it, and you can't learn something if you don't pay enough attention to it. If you are easily distracted or need to concentrate, find yourself a quiet spot to digest the information.

2. Gather information in a style that is best suited to you. Some people learn best by seeing, some by hearing and others by doing. Know what style you prefer and use it.

3. Involve as many senses as possible. Even if you're a visual learner, read out loud what you want to remember.

4. Relate information to what you already know. Connect new data to information you already remember, such as colours or people close to you.

5. Organize information. Write things down in address books and datebooks and on calendars; take notes.

6. Be motivated and keep a positive attitude. Tell yourself that you do have the ability to learn and remember. A positive mental attitude sets up our brain with the expectation of success.

How To Improve Memory With Exercise

Just as your body needs regular and appropriate exercise for our health and well-being, so does your brain.

Puzzles & Riddles - One of the most obvious ways to exercise you brain is to solve puzzles or riddles, this forces you to think in creative or unusual ways, ways that are not necessarily part of your everyday thinking processes. These are good exercises for your brain because they force you to think in terms of mathematics, logical reasoning, pattern recognition, vocabulary and nonlinear thinking.
New Environments - Your brain is also stimulated by new and interesting environments, go and visit new places - the museum, an art exhibition, places of interest in your community. This keeps your brain active and growing, rather than shrinking with age and dis-use.
Engage All Your Senses - when you engage all the five senses, touch, smell, sight, hearing and taste it strengthens your memory. You could try cooking from a different culture with different flavors and smells that you're not used to. Or take up a new hobby or craft that requires you to use your hands (and brain!) in a new way.
All of these exercises keep your brain stimulated and active, but to really train your brain, you need to get into some extensive exercises that strengthen your neural pathways, teach your brain to access it's unused portions and establish stronger links between your conscious and unconscious mind.
The brain exercises contained in the Mental Photography course will exercise your brain well beyond what you are currently capable of doing.
