And it's completely wrong - the human body just doesn't work that way!
The truth is that doing a bunch of pushups will NOT burn off fat from your chest. It will only strengthen and tone the underlying muscles. This can actually make your man boobs seem bigger.
To effectively burn off that moob chest fat you need to perform workouts that target your body as a whole. These workouts also need to be intense enough and efficient enough to generate the hormonal and metabolic changes in your body that are needed for fat loss.

Some may be enjoying themselves but, lets face it, the majority won't be.
Why? Because it's time consuming and boring. The kind of slow, steady cardiovascular exercise that most people perform usually lasts between half and hour and an hour - which is a lot of time to take out of an already busy schedule. It's also a long time to be stuck doing the same thing with only MTV for company.
I know this because I spent most of my adult life doing it myself.
But you know what the saddest thing about this kind of cardio is?
It's that most people only do it because they've been conditioned to think it's the most effective way to burn fat.
It isn't. The truth is that once they reach a certain weight, many people find traditional cardio to be ineffective at burning fat, especially the kind of stubborn fat that you find around the stomach.
Yet despite this people continue to put themselves through the same torment week after week. This partly down to habit and partly because that's what they think they should be doing,. That there isn't any other option.
Well there is another option, and that's interval training.

Interval Training For Getting Rid of Man Boobs
What kinds of physical activities are our bodies designed for?
To answer this question we must cast our minds back to before the rise of modern civilisation, to our very earliest ancestors whose bones, muscles, organs and bodily functions we have inherited.
Our distant stone age relatives would have spent their days hunting, fighting other and running away from danger as fast as possible. These activities would have involved sudden bursts of intense energy followed by rest.
There is nothing in nature that would have required them (or any other animal) to run for hours in the same way that people run for hours on the treadmill.
In other words traditional cardio does not reproduce any natural form of human activity. That's why our metabolism, our hormones, our muscles do not react to traditional cardio in the same way that they do to exercise which involves variable intensity.
For example, most competitive sports such as football, tennis, squash and basketball are extremely beneficial forms of exercise because they involve lots of the natural movements and intensity variation that our bodies are made for.
Anyone who plays these sports on a frequent and regular basis is unlikely to have any trouble with excess fat at all.
Though it can be unrealistic for most of us to take part in these kind of activities more than once or twice a week, the good news is you can easily reproduce the same effects and benefits in the gymnasium.
One way of doing so is to perform interval training.
Here's an example of what an interval training session on the treadmill might look like :
Warm-up for 3-4 minutes at a fast walk or light jog
Interval 1 - run at 80% of full capacity
Interval 2 - walk 30% of full capacity
Then repeat those 2 intervals 6 times for a very intense 15-minute workout.
Training your body at highly variable intensity rates like this 3 times a week will produce a far more profound response in terms of fat loss, muscle conditioning and the health of your heart.
And you'll have done it in at least half the time of traditional cardio!
Combine that approach with a healthy diet of natural, unprocessed foods you will be well on your way to reducing you chest fat and saying bye bye to man boobs forever.
