In 1994 I discovered the Protein Power diet and discovered how to lose weight fast. I had the good fortune of meeting the Drs. Eades and becoming their patient for about nine months. In that time I was able to lose over 60 pounds.

What Is The Protein Power Diet Plan?
The Protein Power diet plan is pretty simple to understand and implement. First you'll determine your protein needs, which is dependent upon how much lean body mass you have and how active you are. The steps to do this are laid out in the Protein Power book. Be sure you get your daily requirement of protein--this is essential to your success. In addition to this protein you will eat up to 30 grams of carbs. Choosing vegetables will be the best use of your carb consumption. Get 25 grams of fiber each day. Eat healthy fats--olive oils, nut oils, and avocado, for example. Drink 8 glasses of water each day. Take a vitamin supplement. Dessert can be low-carb fruits or sugar free jello.

Is The Protein Power Plan Safe?
Following the Protein Power Diet will put your body in ketosis. Ketosis simply means that our bodies are burning fat for energy. Some have argued that being ketosis is dangerous. Here's what the Eadeses have to say about this:
"...if you trust the consensus among medical experts and scientists, you will understand that ketones are a perfectly normal fuel used preferentially by most of the tissues in the body for their energy needs. In fact--except for type I diabetes--there is no evidence for the opinion that ketones are dangerous." (Protein Power, pg. 196).

How is the Protein Power Diet Different From Other High Protein Diets?
The Protein Power plan expands on the carb restrictive diets, and examine more of the "why" behind the effectiveness of high protein diets and how they can help people lose weight fast. I like this aspect of the plan because if I understand why I'm doing something it makes it easier for me to do it.
