To prevent dental disease and other health problems in your animals, you must learn how to start monitoring and treating it. Another issue that maintaing dental health can fix is halitosis. Bad breath in animals is very common because of the lack of dental hygiene. Keep your pet's mouths healthy, safe, and smelling fresh with tips to maintaining dental care in dogs here!

How to Tell if Your Dog Has a Dental Disease

dog teeth

Sometimes it is hard to tell if your dog has a dental disease. One of the biggest signs is a lot of plaque and tartar built up on their teeth. Another sign is if the gum line has changed. If the gum is straight along all of the teeth this could mean big health problems. Gingivitis, gum inflammation, or gingival recession could be happening.

Other signs of dental disease in your pet can be so subtle that you may not have any idea. Look out for these behaviors in your pet for that could mean they are suffering from a dental disease

1. Your dog will only eat softer food
2. They avoid chew toys and decline crunchy treats
3. They chew to one side of their mouth
4. They may chew less in general, sometimes causing them to vomit
5. They have increased salivation
6. They paw at or run their mouth/face
