Folding Heart Valentine Card Tutorial

Step by Step Instructions for a folded card.

This easy to fold heart shaped card will please any Valentine on your list, and only takes a few minutes to fold. It really will be one of those cards your loved one treasures always.

It can be decorated in many different styles, it does not have to be in a Victorian theme, mine are just examples of what you can do.

I hope you enjoy this tutorial and will give it a try.

Items needed to make this card

and a free Valentine printable.

I have had a thing for collecting Vintage, and Victorian images and clip art for many years and have an extensive collection.
On this page I will share with you the images I used on both cards I will be showing you. I am showing the instructions on red card stock, and down the page you will see that finished card and another free image.

You will need the following;


12 x 12 inch card stock
paper clips or clothes pins
scissors, pencil and glue
Heart shaped template from here
Clip art
Decorative paper
Heart shaped doily if you choose
Glitter, and other embellishments.

Let's get started with our first fold.

Take a piece of 12" x 12" card stock.

Fold your card stock in half... ok that part is easy.
In my photo you can see the crease, I use a scoring board and a bone folder.
click on photo for close upIt is important to now turn your paper over to the other side.

Fold this time from corner to corner.

Open it up and fold the opposite corner to corner.

Ok, breathe and take a minute...
click on photo for close upHolding one of the larger unfolded portions in front of you, fold the card inwards until it lays flat like this one below.
click on photo for close upUse something like paper clips or clothes pins to hold the card stock together for drawing and cutting the heart.

Using a heart shaped template, trace around the heart with pencil.
Or you can draw your own heart shape.

Next step is to cut out your heart.

The edges may look a bit rough but you can tidy them up after it's cut.

How I added the lace to the pink card

I used a glue gun to add a ruffled lace edge to the front of the pink card first.
Then I glued a piece of lace trim to a heart cut from pink paper.

After gluing on my Victorian clip art I glued this paper piece to the front of the card and
also glued a small bow.
