Homemade Sarah Connor Costume from Terminator 2

Dress As Heroine Sarah Connor This Halloween!
If you decide to dress in a Sarah Connor costume from Terminator 2 you'll surely be the talk of the town. It's not the easiest of costumes to pull off, and it does take a bit of crafty ingenuity (and a ton of hot glue!) but it's totally worth it.
Of course, you might want to do a few push-ups beforehand to get into the mood - and the look!
*DISCLAIMER* The gun used in this costume is a realistic looking weapon made out of electrical tape, foam core, and hot glue. Do not carry a realistic-looking weapon in any situation that may be remotely dangerous. In fact, it's probably better if it is reserved for use while attending house parties. No liability is assumed for situations arising from carrying a realistic-looking gun replica. Although it does feel pretty sweet.

Sarah Connor Costume - The Head
Hat, Ponytail, Glasses
The hat for the homemade Sarah Connor costume is easy enough to come by, and doesn't require any modification.Simply purchase a military cadet hat in black, either from a thrift store, a military surplus store, or Amazon (click below for more info).
Pull your hair into a simple ponytail. The glasses are a little difficult to come by. I recommend purchasing a pair of aviators, or modifying a cheap pair of sunglasses with some small-gauge wire and electrical tape.
Sarah Connor Costume - The Chest
Tank Top and Harness
The chest portion of the homemade Sarah Connor costume starts out pretty easy. First, urchase a black tank top with wide sleeves (not spaghetti-strap).After that, you need to make the harness that she wears over the tank top. This isn't necessary, but helps to complete the look. This is where the hot glue gun comes in handy! Purchase lengths of nylon webbing strap in black and black plastic buckles from your local craft store (or, repurpose them from other items.) Use the hot glue to turn them into a basic harness, with buckles across the chest and waist. I repurposed a black exercise belt as the padding under the shoulders of the harness.

Sarah Connor Costume - The Bottoms
Pants and Belt
In the movie, Sarah Connor wears standard black BDU pants. These are fairly easy to find online; Walmart is another good source (for pants, tank tops, and items that you will deconstruct and put to good use).The belt I used was kind of invented - more black nylon webbing, and some metal hooks to add a little style.

Sarah Connor Terminator 2 Costume - The Boots
Combat Boots
Not much to be said about the shoes. They're black combat boots.If you're worried about cost, look for combat boots at an army surplus store or thrift store. In a pinch, any pair of black boots will do. Most women have at least one pair of black boots lying around - you could go for the "sexy Sarah Connor" look!

If you're not up to making a fake gun from scratch, you might want to purchase one. I constructed mine on the spot with foam core and electrical tape, which you're welcome to try.

- Sarah Connor is a clever costume idea, and your boyfriend or husband could be The Terminator so it would be a fantastic couple costume. I do like these creative costumes that you put together yourself rather than buying ready-made.
