How To Make A Ribbon Pillow

How To Create These Simple Charming Christmas Ribbon Pillows

Every year for the holidays we make some sort of special gift or ornament for decorating or for gifting. These ribbon pillows were just such a project. Of course depending on your color selection they would work just as well for wedding gifts, birthday presents or even just interior decorating.

They're incredibly easy to do and yet look so festive. Use any kind of ribbons you want to create each one a unique gift for family and friends, or even for yourself.

The Steps For Making Ribbon Pillows

* Cut 13 lengths of ribbon.

This can be all one color or divide it up with two or four colors. Actually you could make all the ribbon strips a different color. Cut the ribbon length about 2 inches longer than the desired pillow size. This allows for excess used in the weaving as well as sewing.

Arrange your ribbon strips both vertically and horizontally

Place ribbon color every other one.

* Basket weave the ribbon strips

* Lay face down onto fabric chosen for the pillow case front.

* Sew together the ribbon and the front of the pillow case.

* Take this and lay face down onto the back of the pillow case

Again make sure the fabric you want facing out on the finished pillow is turned face in for this step. Be sure to leave a big enough hole for inverting the case and stuffing.

* Invert, stuff and stitch shut.
