About Wonder Woman Costumes

Who says all superheroes should be men? Not, Wonder Woman, the Amazonian goddess who can give any guy a run for his money. Simultaneously fierce and feminine, Wonder Woman disarms the awestruck perpetrators of crime with her stunning beauty - and lasso of truth! The lasso and her bullet-deflecting cuffs are the most important Wonder Woman accessories. Wonder Woman's alter-ego is Diana Prince, a government agent who moonlights as curvy and kick-butt super heroine when the need calls. If you are ready to serve out some sweet and sassy justice, suit up in a Wonder Woman costume based on her comic book or television style --remember Linda Carter?!

How To Make Your Wonder Woman Costume

Step 1: A Wonder Woman costume starts off with a foundation of a red leotard, preferably sleeveless. Use a metallic gold pen to draw the Wonder Woman emblem in the center of the leotard.

Step 2: For a more modest look than Linda Carter's swimsuit-style bottoms, wear a blue miniskirt over the red leotard. You can choose a straight skirt a slightly a-line or flounced style such as a running, tennis or dancing skirt. Use a foam stamper shaped like a star (or a stamp carved from a potato), dip in white paint and make star imprints all around the skirt. Allow to dry completely.

Step 3: Create the Wonder Woman costume cape from approximately 2 yards of red fabric that is gathered with a ribbon drawstring. This can be done by folding the fabric over about 1-inch to create a casing and gluing or sewing down along the edge. Ribbon or cording attached to a big safety pin can be threaded through the casing; gather the cape onto the ribbon and tie around the neck.

Step 4: If you do not naturally have long brown hair, you will want to wear a brunette wig. Top your wonder 'do with a store-bought tiara or golden diadem made from craft foam and faux jewels. Other Wonder Woman costume accessories include her bullet-deflecting arm cuffs that can be made from recycled plastic containers or paper tubes and gold paint.

Step 5: Complete your Wonder Woman costume with a pair of Go-go boots and a length of white rope that has been looped up into a lasso to be the famed "lasso of truth".
