Stop and say hi!

From the lens How to Make Balloon Decorations.

I hope I've provided some basic instructions on how to make balloon decorations to help you get started with planning a great party! However, you can do more with these decorations, as I found today. Find yourself with two six year old boys who are a little too wound up to play calmly? Blow up some balloons in pairs, twist as many as you can into two giant clusters, give them each a giant, balloon ball and let them go to town. This other finally got a little peace as a result. :)

The next time you need to throw a party, plan out some great, low cost balloon decorations ahead of time!

What great ideas. I use to make simple balloon animals but didn't think some of these would be so manageable. I may have to brush the dust off my old skills and get creating!

Hi. Any ideas on making a "floating" sign for a 50th birthday? I'd like to create some kind of lightweight sign and float it over my house.
  • Sojourn Jun 6, 2011 @ 12:01 am | delete
Rick - I have a couple of ideas. First, you can have a custom banner made or use a pre-printed 50th birthday banner and float it between two large bunches of helium balloons.

You'd need to anchor the balloons to something (some safe, sturdy structure at the top of your house?) and each group of balloons must be secured at the neck. You'd then attach each top corner of the sign to the neck of a balloon group and also attach the bottom corners to the strands holding the balloons so the banner doesn't fly around and become unreadable.

Another method would be to make a number 5 and a number 0 from helium filled balloons and float those over your house.

A third option is to float a mylar #5 and a mylar #0 balloon together over your house. You can buy them in fairly large sizes like this 40 inch gold #5: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GKU4PA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=hotocoaneyost-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217153&creative=399701&creativeASIN=B000GKU4PA.

If you anchor those two mylar balloons together and secure them to float above your house, you can also support them with strings of multi-colored helium balloons strung together to act like colored streamers surrounding the mylar balloons.

    Just some thoughts. Good luck!

    Sincerely,

    Erica
