Buffalo Wings
Buffalo Wings are one of my all time favorite foods. I like them very-very hot. How to make buffalo sauce? Its easy, in most cases, Cayenne pepper hot sauce and melted butter or margarine is the basis of the sauce. Buffalo wing sauce can be made with a variable amount of hot spices, with the names such as mild, medium, or hot. Typically, the wings are deep-fried although they are sometimes grilled or baked and placed in a bowl with the sauce. Wings can also be served dry or wet. Buffalo wings are almost always served with cut celery or carrots with ranch or blue cheese dressings a dressing to cool your pallet. It is now one the most common foods in America. Restaurants are made with just wings are their menu.
This was not the norm until a few years ago. They came from a Bar in Buffalo, NY. Hence the name Buffalo wings. The story is Teressa Belissimo, co-owner of the Anchor Bar with her husband, Frank. The infamous night was October 3, 1964, with the unannounced late-night arrival of their son, Dominic and several of his friends from college. Mustering her mothering instincts she prepared a quick appetizer for the son's friends. She came up with the idea of deep frying chicken wings and tossing them in Cayenne pepper hot sauce and melted butter. While the wings were deep frying, Teressa decided to serve left over celery sticks with blue cheese to her son and his friends to tide them over. Who knew that she would the mother of a new industry? Thank you Mother Teressa!
