PROGRAMMING A DUBSTEP BEAT

STEP 1: Open a new session and give your beat a name. Many producers have working titles like "afternoon madness" or whatever.

STEP 2: Choose the first kick and snare sound the comes your way. Program the beat first while you are still inspired, then when it is all sequenced, you can spend hours choosing and refining the drum sounds.

STEP 3: Set your tempo. For now we are going to say around 145BPM, but of course this will depend on what style of dubstep beat you want to create. You don't need to add reverb, FX or EQ it yet, just get the beat happening.

STEP 4: Get the Kick In there. Lets place them on beat one, four and nine.

STEP 5: Let's put some snare on beats three, seven, thirteen and sixteen. Later we will shorten the length of seven and sixteen. This will sound cool when it's done.

STEP 6: Hi-hats can be placed on three, six, nine, eleven, fourteen and fifteen. It would sound cool to make nine and fourteen a hi-hat suck.

So there is a basic beat, with the instruments to follow. Though, this will be a whole new tutorial and a very long one at that. But this should get you started with how to make Dubstep beats. Give it a try on Dubturbo first CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD DUBTURBO

How To Make Dubstep Basics

Don't Forget:

Dubstep Wave Forms

1. Anyone Can Do It: If you have just started learning how to make dubstep, it does not mean that you too can not be rocking crowds of thousands at festivals, or producing for pop artists in the near future. Everyone was where you are once and it does not take long to learn.

2. Pace Yourself: Get the right software for your level of experience. Remember, learn with Dubturbo and perhaps add vocals and other instruments later in Logic Pro (if and when you get a mac). See the links for HOWTOMAKEDUBSTEP.ORG for more information.

3. Process: When making dubstep beats, remember to always sequence the whole beat first, before you move on to other sounds, or prior to even selecting the final drum sounds. This will ensure the beat gets finished while the ideas are still fresh in your head. Don't think that the standard sounds you use to make the original beat are set in concrete.

4. Videos: Over on the how to make dubstep website, there are a series of videos that take you step by step through how to make dubstep, with a professional sound. Don't get overwhelmed though.

The Explosion Of Dubstep

The World Over

Make Dubstep MusicDubstep music has become somewhat of a phenomenon, in terms of the growth of popularity all over the globe. Those who originally thought of the concept to market Dubstep are pioneers in this unusual music niche genre, though there are numerous amount of copy-cat wanna bes n the industry who can't think for themselves and steal ideas from others.

In light of this, there are still some great DJs making original tracks, and the commercialism has expanded in a massive way. Did you know the Rusko has produced on the newest Britney Spears album. (He was meant to do many more tracks but his studio actually burned down and he lost months worth of work and could not reconstruct the tracks in time for the submission date).

Originally being a mostly UK and Dutch favored genre, New Zealanders, Australians and as you can see from all the great websites out there, Americans are loving it too. If you are old enough to remember, you'll recount how trance swept the world in the late 1990's. The rave scene exploded and everyone was listening to it.

This is the direction that Dubstep Music is heading, hence why so many people are wanting to learn how to make dubstep, just like their favorite DJs.
