How to make homemade beer - boiling and cooling
Ok,you have bought your beer kit.So how to make homemade beer with it ? You start off with the first step boiling. The malt extract together with hops are boiled together with water.Boiling terminates the enzymatic process and sterilizes the malt extract.Hops add flavor, aroma and bitterness. The boiled mixture or wort is cooled quickly to room temperature. Not cooling the wort quickly increases the chances of infection as pitching of yeast is delayed. How to make homemade beer - fermentation
The cooled wort is transferred to a fermentation bucket. The selected yeast is added into the tank. The yeast ferments the starch into alcohol and carbon dioxide in 1-2 weeks.Once the primary fermentation is done it is siphoned off to another tank where it is held for another week for secondary fermentation.
How to make homemade beer-priming and bottling
Priming sugar is added to the beer to promote some more fermentation after bottling.A small amount of priming sugar like corn sugar will ferment and will give the beer the fizz. After priming the beer is siphoned into bottles and the bottles capped with a capping device. How to make homemade beer - storage and aging
So now you know how to make homemade beer. But wait! Here comes the most difficult part;waiting for the beer to age.Aging allows the beer to carbonate and smoothens the flavor.3 - 4 weeks may be required for the aging process. The bottles need to be stored in a upright position in a cool dark place.D-DAY IS HERE!
