How To Make Sure You Have The Right Tools

An Ounce Of Prevention......What Is It Worth?

Have you ever been caught on the side of the road wishing you had a screwdriver or a pair of plyers(or a cold beveragefor that matter!) These days we tend to rely on technology or some form there of it, to get us out of a pinch when we need it. But as you probably have already experienced, there are times when simple paper clip or a piece of tin foil, at the precise moment, would have been worth all the techno gadgets you own put together. Don't panic, we'll look at several options that will fit any budget.

Emergency Tool Kit vs. Emergency First Aid Kit

type=textYou deffininently need both, but lets start with the tool kit. There are some tools that are a must in any kit. However, if you find a kit you like and want to add to it, that always an option. Our job here is to help you put some thought into your choices and hopefully some insight too. Pliers, screwdrivers (both phillips and flathead), jumper cables, tow strap, trainglular reflectors, flashlight (preferably one that will set upright also), fuses(make sure they're the kind your car uses),an adjustable wrench, hammer are neccessities.

First Aid Kit

Because no two emergencies are exactly the same!

type=textOpinions differs about what should be in the first aid kits as the actual kits available on the market. Taking some time to visualize and research what you believe that you need and taking action, puts you ahead of the masses. What is safety worth? Who can put a price on a asprin or bandaid when that what you need. Basically the same things you need at home, but remember you can't take the house with( unless of course you live in a RV) so put some thought into it.

First Aid

Remember, the last road trip you went on and forgot to pack any bandaids, bug spray or medicated ointment and how you kicked yourself or your partner (hopefully, not literally!). So when picking out a first aid kit be sure to put some thought into it, you can always add to it before you put it in your car. i.e.extra pair of shorts, tee shirt, towel you get the idea.

Allittle More About Me

short version

I have recently been looking for different ways to accomplish some goals I've had most of my life and yet to fufill. Traveling the world, starting with 30 of the states that I haven't visited yet, and sharing my talents where ever and when ever I can. I enjoy learning about different cultures and meeting people that share the same zest for life.

Growing up in a college town, I got to meet people from all over the world through my familys' business. My father serviced and repaired many of the professors' and exchange students vehicles. We had quite a few families stay in our home over the years from atleast 10 different countries. I attended college for 5yrs only to wind up in the family business, which I ran for several years before I ventured out on my own and got married.

I have three beautiful children, the youngest will turn 4 yrs old in August my first girl, her older brothers are 16 and 17. Life has been on hold for a few years now but, I hoping through an online business I can fufill some of my dreams and provide for my family at the same time. I'm looking forward to meeting people even if it is online for now, I toured playing music for several years and met alot then, but now I work in front of a computer screen.
Thanks for taking a few minutes to listen, I look forward to hearing from you guys! Love the Squidoo community, everybody is so nice and helpful it has been a pleasure so far.
Thanks again!

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing in medicine and auto service. That said basic kits for both is a good idea. For me? if the car is old enough I'd have a spark plug spanner and some jump leads. Clean dry spark plugs are a must I'd say. Oh and a map that shows motels close by too.

Great to have advice on this from someone with your background. The fuses are something most people wouldn't think about... thanks for including those in your list!
