How to Make the Perfect Babysitter Kit
Ranked #6,070 in Parenting & Kids, #204,455 overall
Your sitter will love you for this
Why?
One day I was at work when my mom called to inform me that my son had a fever. She quickly let me know that we had a problem. She was also watching my niece and my sister had forgotten to leave her car seat. I sat on the other end of the phone speechless. I was at work and I couldn't just leave without repercussions. I made several phone calls and was unable to get one person to drop by my mom's house with a bottle of Tylenol. Long story short, I was so upset with myself for having to leave work for something so simple but needed. I should have been better prepared. I usually had what the sitter was calling me for but it was always over another sitter's house. Most importantly I shouldn't have depended on my sitters to supply or be able to obtain things my son needed. After all the inconvenient phone calls I sat down and thought about the patterns and created the kit.
The Contents
Making the Kit
The kit is packed with your preferred brand of products and extras that are unique to your child. I selected a Rubbermaid 15qt blue container to be the kit case, and filled it with these valuable items.
Children's Pepto
Cough Syrup/ Cold Medicine
Children's Ibuprofen
Child Cold Pack
Thermometer
Tissue
Neosporin
Band-Aids
Vaseline
Lotion
Combs (my sitter really appreciated these hair care items when my son buried his head in the sand)
Brush
Hair Grease
Shampoo
Conditioner
Towel
Extra tooth brush
Extra underwear
Extra socks
Extra t-shirt
Extra Pajamas (he always has a pair in his regular bag, but I wanted an extra pair In the kit, and believe me they've been used)
I chose a Disney Cars bag to carry it in. I found the bag in my house and I have no idea what came in it :)
Add a Basket
For those of you who want to go the extra mile and really blow your sitter away with convenience, make them a stay basket. My son is branded and very picky, and I appreciate all those who try to compensate him. There are certain things that wouldn't fit in the container or were too inconvenient to travel with. This dilemma led me to create the stay basket. I purchased baskets a Wal-Mart after Easter for 50-70% percent off and filled them with items I wanted to stay at each sitter's house. I placed them in reusable bags, tied a bow and gave them as Christmas presents from my son. They all got a laugh out of it, but they appreciated having items my son used every time he was at their house on hand. Some of them let me know when certain products are empty or gone so I can replenish the supply, and some just pick up the items themselves. I appreciate all my sitters, they help me do the one thing I must do, work. The least I can do for them is supply things to them that will make caring for my son a little easier. I hope this kit can help you and your sitter or sitters.
Items I placed in the stay basket-
Big bottle of lotion
Bubble bath
Medium Towel
Wash cloth
Flushable moist wipes
Body wash
Tooth paste
Bar soap with container
Tooth brush
Babysitting Bags
