History behind the wind chimes

Wind chimeBefore you find out how to make wind chimes, a word on where they come from. Wind chimes were originally used in India, where they would hang them on pagodas, to scare away evil spirits, from there they quickly spread through the whole of asia, where they are supposed to bring good luck

Materials

You can use any material you want to make a wind chime, traditionally they are made out of metal and wood, but it is alot more fun if you try out new materials, just gather any old tubing or tube like materials you have laying around, and bang them together to see what will sound good.

How to make wind chimes

You will need a chain or a line from which the chime will hang, one round plate in which you will drill holes, several tubes, and several lines to hold the tubes. Firstly drill holes in the round plate, and in the tubes you have selected, then run the lines (fishing line is best) through the holes, and attach it to the tubes, at varying lenghts. Now just connect the top plate to a chain, which you will use to hang the chime, and your done. Sounds too easy doesnt it. Ofcourse the best part is experiemnting with different materials, lenghts, and distances between the tubes, to find out which different sounds you can come up with. Now you know how to make wind chimes, go make them

“The sounds they make are so soothing”
