What is Master Mind?

A Master Mind group is formed whenever two or more people have a common goal and decide to work together on a regular basis on that goal.

At the present time, I am delighted to be involved in two Mastermind groups.

The first is a prayer based Mastermind group. We have been together for almost 15 years, supporting each other in prayer. This group was formed from within our Unity study group. Our little group changes with time, as people and life circumstances change.

The second group grew out of Pat O'Bryan's Portable Empire University. We have also experienced changes, but have been a solid group now for almost a year. We are all women growing our internet businesses. Our goal is to make a positive difference in society overall and to succeed on the internet. We exchange ideas and support and encourage each other. We keep our number to six members. That number allows each member to speak and receive input in ten minutes of a one hour telephone call each week.

Napoleon Hill's definition of the Mastermind Alliance

"The Mastermind principle consists of an alliance of two or more minds working in perfect harmony for the attainment of a common definite objective. No two minds ever come together without a third invisible force which may be likened to a "third mind." When a group of individual minds are coordinated and function in harmony, the increased energy created through that alliance becomes available to every individual in the group."

Napoleon Hill said:

"Before you can turn desire into money, you will require specialized knowledge of the service, merchandise, or profession which you intend to offer for fortune. You may need more specialized knowledge than you can personally acquire. In that case, you need a "mastermind group." A mastermind group is a group of real or virtual authorities on subjects that you are not an authority on.

What are the rules? How does it work?

There are no hard and fast rules. Each group develops as it seems to be led. After meeting a few weeks, you will notice the "flow" of thinking leading each of you in your own direction for good.

We did decide to limit our group to six people, and to meet weekly via telephone for one hour - and yes, sometimes we go over the designated hour, but we try to stick to that. We use Free Audio Conferencing. The service itself is free but we do each pay for our telephone call via our telephone bill.
Other groups use Skype or e-mail or even nings. You choose the type of communication your group will use.

You should also choose a name for your group and decide your purpose. We usually chat a few minutes and then begin by having each person tell about the week's progress and what they want to accomplish the next week - or ask for help if needed. Sometimes we all respond, sometimes one or two respond, but folks usually hear what they need to hear. Again, we try to time so that each person has 10 minutes of undivided attention.

One of the nicest things we did was create a private Ning. Nings are free and a great way to stay in touch through the week. Just go to Ning to start your group.
