Skills Needed To Overcome Jealousy

Following these techniques will help you begin to solve your problems.

Grasp on to them and make them your own! Most of these skills can be attributed to common sense, but when you feel jealousy; your common sense can fly out the window without you even knowing it.

We are going to cover the 2 of the 5 essential skills:

Facing Reality
Positive Thinking

Facing the reality of Jealousy

If there one thing that you need to remember more than anything, it is the phrase "it is what it is." When your mind and body is being pulled down by feelings of jealousy, you need to tell yourself that phrase over and over until it sticks.

You really have two choices when it comes to jealousy and the reality of things. You can either accept it for what it is, or you can sit around feeling butterflies in your stomach, while you ponder ways to change things.

Whether your jealousy is in reference to material possessions, the amount of money that you make or the fact that someone else is with a person that you want to be with, it is what it is. The sooner you face reality head on and realize that, you will be on your way to overcoming jealousy.

Think positive to beat jealousy

Quit being so hard on yourself! Rather than dwindle away as jealousy consumes you, find positive aspects about yourself.

Maybe you are not as tall as you want to be, but are you taller than the person standing next to you?

Most people have gone through periods of their life where they did not feel confident in their outside or inside qualities. Once you look around though, you realize that it's not so bad after all! OK, you might not be as tall as you would like, but I'll bet you're not as short as the person you just walked by at the grocery store.

If your jealousy comes from wanting to look like someone you know who you feel is beautiful externally, look in the mirror. If you dislike every single physical quality about yourself, then maybe that is something you should speak with a professional about. However, if you can find even one thing that you like about your physical appearance, than concentrate on that aspect and run with it.

Sometimes jealousy for another person does not just relate to physical attraction. You may be jealous because someone else is more confident than you, is a better speaker, is smarter, more ambitious or determined.

Once again, you need to look within yourself and find things that you are good at.

Maybe you are not a great business person, but you shine when you take care of your kids or when one of your friends needs a good ear to listen. When you feel the jealous itch start to creep up on you, think about the qualities that you do have, rather than the qualities that you do not have.
