In order to get people interested in watching your video, they have to get something out of it. Either they like your music or they are interested in the artist for some other reason. There are ways to get people interested in your video even if they don't know who you are. Here are some great ways to get publicity for your video and help people at the same time.

1- Write a how to article related to your video. This could almost be anything, like how to create a low budget video for youtube and link your video as an example People will read your article to learn something but that will also make them interested in your music video. You could use your blog to write the article or use a service like http://www.searchwarp.com. Most of these article websites have rules so make sure your read them first.

2- Contests always work, if you have a music video that has a great beat you can do a youtube video dance contest. Make a short video and give the winner of the contest something you can afford like an iphone or ipad which ever you choose. These are great to build buzz around music videos.

3- Make promoting your video a group effort. Get your friends to post and link the video in your social networks. Make sure you put a short plan together and time length. For example say that you are going to be promoting your video for two months and you were looking to get some people involved. They don't have to promote the video everyday but make sure they are aware that in their spare time they can help promote the video over the next two months. Giving them a time frame will help because they will keep promoting. Most people will help promote for only a day so timing them will help them stay focused on helping you.

4- Create a website for your video. Having a link such as www.myvideo.com will show people that you mean business. You could just forward the link to your blog or twitter but this will make it easier to promote.

7- Getting blogs and websites to support your video is not easy because of the thousands of submissions etc.. but make a list of the blogs you would like to get your video on, and send them the video but try to make contact with someone and get a response before sending.

8- You do need a publicist, but most indie artists have really small budgets but if you have a job you can get a publicist to work your video for about $200.00 per month. They can usually get you nice placements on popular blogs, newspapers, magazines.
