How to Promote Your Squidoo Lenses

After spending hours preparing a wonderful lens, web-site, photo gallery etc. it can be soul destroying to then wait for months for a search engine to find it or someone to stumble upon it from your Squidoo profile page. There are many well documented ways to increase traffic, which I shall cover in more detail below: Using appropriate keywords; The "Discovery Tool"; lensrolling the lens to your other lenses, adding the URL to external directories (Digg, Delicious etc.), promoting with Twitter, emailing all of your friends and family and asking them to visit or actually paying to advertise it (which I suspect would be uneconomic for Squidoo lenses) etc.

All of these methods take time and effort, but perhaps the most important thing is to have multiple ways to link to the lens from multiple web-sites and domains, to increase the chance of a search-engine finding the lens and ranking it higher in the results list. External links fromoutside Squidoo are important, but until recently it was easy to increase exposure simply by joining lots of Squidoo Groups. These no longer exist in their original form and have been converted to Group lenses, but you can still add your lens to these Group lenses to promote Traffic.
