How to Deal With Stress
It's Really Simple
Despite the fact that exercise is possibly not the most appealing phrase in your vocabulary, it most certainly is a word that we associate with many benefits right? Scheduling in daily exercise, of any sort, doesn't just make you healthier overall, but it can also minimize the harmful side effects of stress on your body also. When learning how to deal with stress, exercise is one of the most often recommended solutions.Take into consideration how many times you've heard someone say that their doctor has informed them that what they are suffering with is a
symptom or effect of stress. In most cases people simply shrug this off, as they have concluded that their doctor has told them this because he or she does not actually know what the correct diagnosis or treatment is for what's ailing them. In reality, constant exposure to too much stress can result in any of a number of illnesses, including life-threatening illnesses such as cancer or heart disease.
One suggestion of how to deal with stress, that can increase your disease fighting capability and decrease your stress level at the same time, is to start moving more (and we don't mean changing your address). You do not even have to think about getting any expensive workout equipment to achieve this either, as you can simply implement more movement into your daily schedule. One simple way to do this would be to opt for the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Any type of additional movement that you incorporate into your daily routine such as stretching, bending or walking is a great idea.
If you have an office job where you are sitting at a desk for long periods of time, be sure to do neck exercises, side to side, up an down as well as turning left to right during each hour of your workday. It is also advisable to get up and walk around a little each hour of the day. Another good idea is to do some stretching, so lean forward and let your hands touch the ground, if you can reach that far. The further you can reach the better. You may need to go to the restroom to do this so that your co-workers or boss do not think that you've lost it. or you might want to share what you are doing with them to teach them also how to deal with stress as I'm sure they also feel the effects of stress in their lives.
Do you have a buddy who you could encourage to do some simple exercise, like walking together or doing a fitness DVD together? If you happen to like going to a gym you could do classes together or free form exercise, it really doesn't matter. Or perhaps you could play indoor racquetball or squash. It is extremely helpful to have an exercise partner as you tend to keep each other motivated on those days when you feel like opting out of exercising. If you do not have a buddy willing to exercise with you, you can put on your shoes and just get outside to walk and enjoy the fresh air while getting in your exercise.
Even if you happen to be a couch potato who thrives on watching television you can incorporate more movement into your day. You can do stretching and reaching exercises while you sit on the couch. You can do arm raises and leg raises as two simple exercises. Remember, every little bit helps so give it a try before saying it will not have an impact.
So now you have learned a wonderful strategy for how to deal with stress. If you are always feeling stressed then it is critical that you do something to handle your stress and exercising is an excellent way to benefit not only your body but also your mind. After exercise you will typically feel better physically and have a clearer mind as well.
