Removing Cat Urine Odors
Cats are lovable creatures, but they're not so lovable when they pee where they're not supposed to. Guests will not be impressed if your house has that cat urine smell.
In this article, we'll discuss how to clean and deodorize cat urine stains.

Removing Cat Urine in Carpets
Cleaning Pesky Pet Stains
If the offending urine has saturated your carpet, you'll want to take immediate action. Press a rag against the stain for about 30 seconds. Keep doing this until the area is quite dry; you may need more rags or paper towels. The more urine that soaks into the rag, the better. Now, moisten the area with water and sprinkle some baking soda over it. Leave it there overnight, then vacuum it up the next morning. Baking soda works as a deodorizer.
If the cat urine stain is old, we need something more heavy-duty: A deep cleaning shop vac. You might be able to rent one from a local hardware store. Remember, follow the directions exactly and don't add chemicals. Simple water works best.
Did You Know?
Cats get more protein in their diet than dogs do, which is why their urine smells so much stronger and tends to stain.
How to Clean Cat Urine from Furniture
Get Rid of that Cat Urine Smell!
Removing cat urine from upholstery is a more delicate procedure. You'll need a clean cloth and a cleaning solution (test on a small section of the upholstery first). But don't apply the solution to the stain directly! Instead, apply it to the cloth. Gently rub the stain using circular motions, starting on the outside and working your way in.Now, once you've pretty much removed the stain, you can dry it with the cool setting on a hairdryer.

- Hi,
Hi!
I'll bet the solution is nothing more than the same type of spray-on enzyme cleaner that you can buy in the pet store. It might be less expensive to buy the spray-on stuff, let it sit for a little bit, and then just use the regular steam clean solution.

- This is a great lens. I am having a major problem with a new adopted female cat. She is in heat and spraying anything and everything. I am getting her spayed in the near future but the house is getting that cat urine smell to it because I am sure she is doing it when I don't see her and can clean it up immediately. I am learning all I can about this problem and have even started my own blog about the subject so that I can share what I learn with others who have the same problem.

I love cats. They were always in my life while I was growing up. They're cute, they're furry, they're independent, and they are anything but servile!
