  1. If your operating system is Windows XP or later, use of the 'System Restore' to restore your computer system to a previous state, probably a couple of days before you encountered the rogue program.

  2. If you have malware removal tool installed, run it immediately after you restore your system. If you don't have one or you feel the one you have is not effective, download a free copy of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or Microsoft Security Essentials and scan your computer.  This is just to make sure you are totally rid of the threats and that your PC is completely clean.

  3. Create a new restore point.

  4. Get rid of all system restore points except the new one you have just created. This is necessary so you don't get re-infected if you need another system restore in the near future.
