can we reverse by the help of sideview mirror?..is it recommended?
  • CDT Feb 15, 2012 @ 4:06 am | delete
Hi surraiya, yes but most of your observation needs to be out of the back window! You can use the door mirror for reference to check how close you are to the kerb, but don't fixate on the door mirror - just glance into it when you need to check your distance. Remember that the examiner is looking for good, effective ALL-ROUND observation and that you only need to be "reasonably" close to the kerb (about the width of a drain).

When we lived in England we were floored when we were told we had to do this maneuver to pass the test! I don't think it's even allowed in New Jersey!

Great step-bystep instructions! Just switch sides for American drivers, and it's still works a treat.

A very useful lens on a topic some drivers find difficult.

I will definitely be showing my Mum this - she is such a bad driver. How did she pass her test?

I wish I'd had this when I learnt to drive! I had to contend with the possibility of reversing into a lane - you know the ones in Cardiff? Can we say 'camber'! Very good resource for the learner driver. Blessed :-)

Thanks for the information. We have two learner drivers in our family at the moment so this is something I guess we need to be looking at.

Don't forget that the info on this page is written for UK learner drivers - I have no idea what standards or methods are applicable elsewhere in the world!

Excellent Lens for anyone needing to pass their UK driving test - great information. (Still not convinced it's a useful thing to be able to do though - I've been driving for about 20 years, and have done it about twice since the test!).

This is such fantastic information whether you are a learner driver or indeed an experienced one. This is the sort of lens that Squidoo should be proud of because it informs and educates. SquidAngel blessing :-)
